Balaustrade of the Scalone di Palazzo Uffici (G. Minnucci)

BALUSTRADE OF THE "SCALONE DEL COMMISSARIATO"
This balustrade, designed by the Architect Gaetano Minnucci, is without doubt the most valuable and significant decorative element in the Scalone del Commissariato (Commissar's Staircase) in Palazzo Uffici.
Half way between a piece of high design and an architectural detail, the structure is made of blocks of solid glass of various sizes. The overall impact is one of great elegance, lightness and harmony with the other elements present, in particular with the green Issorie marble paving slabs used on the various floors.
Creation of this refined balustrade was assigned to one of the oldest glass works in Rome, Sciarra.
